DAS Is A Very Watchful Eye

The Domain Awareness System (DAS) developed by Vulcan Technologies provides a real-time tool for anti-poaching units in a single interactive screen. Data include GPS readings of animal movements, radio and vehicle trackers, camera trap photos, and areas where poachers can approach. This live report helps rapid response. The DAS system has been installed at over 20 sites, working with Save the Elephants, African Parks Network, Wildlife Conservation Society, Lewa Conservancy and Northern Rangelands Trust. “If you know where elephants are, and how they are moving, then you can help protect them,” said Iain Douglas-Hamilton, founder of Save the Elephants.
