Taita Rangeland Regeneration

Between the two Tsavo National parks in Kenya, where Taita ranchers have battled poor soils exacerbated by climate change, a movement is underway to combine cattle ranching and conservancies open for flora and fauna viewing. Consolidated, they have one and a half million acres of picturesque rangeland that often sees more animals pass through them than in the Tsavo National Parks combined.

With the support of USAid this conversion will also see the generation of green energy – wind and solar, with controlled mineral extraction and earnings from carbon trading making a significant impact to the livelihoods of the Taita people and also grow wealth for Kenya.
